Name itself suggests that it is the meeting place of three rivers; Kaliyar, Kothamangalam and Thodupuzha rivers. It is a small beautiful town built in the bank of Muvattupuzha river and our place-a typical Kerala village-Kunnakkal, is just 7 km away from here. 

You can have a ride in the traditional wooden boat through Muvattupuzha river and can see the meeting place of three rivers. In this journey, you will come across the lifestyle of local people and will be getting a chance to learn their culture. There is a beautiful park in the bank where you can enjoy the light breeze. 

One of the most prestigious institutions of our small village is hundred years old traditional snake venom treatment centre. It was the only centre of hope for a snake bitten person until a few years ago when the modern medicine was not so developed (5 minutes drive).

 Amballur Siva Temple at Mekkadambu  

One of the very few temples where the Shiva idol is facing West (Usually the idols face East). The myth related this temple is that due to a flood happened in centuries ago, the idol itself faced towards West (5 minutes drive). 

Kadamatoom Church 

This is one of the very famous churches in Kerala, which is believed to be built between 4th and 10th Century. Mar Abo was the first priest and later one of his successors became very famous and known as ‘Kadamattathu Kathanar ‘. There are so many myths related to him.(10 minutes drive).

 Checkdam at Ambalampady 

This dam built across Muvattupuzha River attracts people not because of its size but because of its scenic beauty. 

Traditional weaving place 

Various steps like dyeing, drying the cotton, weaving etc in the production of cotton clothes could be seen in this place (5 minutes drive). 

Mele Kurishupally and Cherpukallu at Pandappilly 

Two big rocks join at the top to form an arch making a road beneath, through which people can pass. (20 Minutes drive) 

Thripunithura Hill Palace (30 Minutes drive)

The Hill Palace, the official residence of the Kochi royal family, is today the largest archaeological museum in Kerala. Built in 1865, the palace complex consists of 49 buildings in the tr tional architectural style of Kerala, sprawled over 52 acres of beautifully landscaped terraced land which houses a deer park and facilities for horse riding. Numerous species of flora including rare medicinal plants grow here. On display in the full-fledged Ethno-archaeological museum are oil-paintings, murals, sculptures in stone and manuscripts, inscriptions, coins, belongings of the Kochi royal family and royal furniture including the simhasana (throne).

Also exhibited are over 200 antique pieces of pottery and ceramic vases from Japan and China, Kudakkallu (tomb stone), Thoppikkallu (hood stone), menhirs, granite, laterite memorials, rock cut weapons from the stone ages, wooden temple models, plaster cast models of objects from Mohanjodaro and Harappa of the Indus Valley Civilisation. The museum also houses a gallery of contemporary art.

Museum of Kerala History, Edappally 

 A gallery of immortal creations that will give you glimpses of the glorious history and rich cultural legacy of this land (30 Minutes). 

Thattekkadu Bird Sanctuary 

World famous bird sanctuary named after renowned Ornithologist Dr. Slim Ali.

Around 360 species of birds, 167 species of butterflies have been spotted in the sanctuary. Important birds include large Falcon, Gray jungle foul, White breasted water hen, Giant Hornbill and various species of migratory birds.

Furthermore, 28 varieties of animals including elephants, Bison and a variety of reptiles including King Cobra are found in sanctuary.(40 Minutes drive)

 Bhoothathankettu Dam 

This dam is nearby Thattekadu sanctuary, Periyar Valley and Idamalayar Irrigation project.

 Old Bhoothathankettu Dam 

Located 10 km from Kothamanagalam town(from here) and about a km deep in the forest adjoining the new barrage at Bhoothathan kettu, the place holds the legend that the devils decided to sink the Siva temple at Trikariyur by blocking the Periyar river beyond the temple. It is believed that they almost blocked the water by placing large boulder to fill the gap and sink the temple; however, Lord Siva took the form of a cock and crowed. The devils mistaking it as already dawn,(devils are scared to do in the daylight) left the place leaving the work uncompleted . Today we can see breath-taking view of large boulders across the river and a gap only through water gush down even at the heaviest of monsoon. 

Kodanadu -Elephant training centre 

A beautiful village on the banks of Periyar, one of the largest elephant training centres of South India.(30 minutes drive) 

Ilaveezha Poonchira 

Located in the midst of three beautiful hillocks- mankunnu kodayathoormal and  Thonippara. This is an ideal place for trekking.(30 minutes)  

Keezhar Kuthu 

45 Kms from here-It is the rainbow waterfalls.Cascade is down a rock from a height of about 1500mts is a wonderful attraction of this spot.(40 mts) 

Thomman Kuthu 

It is a small and beautiful wild waterfall. This splendid waterfall comes down in 7 steps. There is a cascade and pool at each step.It is an ideal place for adventure tourism. (40 Minutes)
